Westfall has purchased two new injection molding machines and three robot pickers to provide medical device, life sciences and healthcare customers with faster, better speed-to-market for their New Product Introductions (NPI).

The equipment upgrades offer several advantages for NPI/Medical’s customers, where quickness, improved machine utilization and stringent process monitoring are vital for final product launches, said NPI/Medical President David Kelly.

“These equipment upgrades are part of NPI/Medical’s ongoing continuous improvement measures to benefit our customers and their needs through state-of-the-art enhancements,” Kelly said. “These additions also support our engineering and new product introduction development efforts.”

The machinery upgrades, Kelly said, are part of NPI/Medical’s five-year equipment replacement plan and three-year commitment to investing in new machinery throughout the company’s 66,000-square-foot manufacturing facility.

Following are details of the new machinery:

// Two Milacron Roboshot Alpha-S110i 110-138 ton (max tonnage) injection molding machines with higher precision and reliable molding capabilities. Engineered for greater rigidity, Roboshot works well in cleanrooms and other molding environments that demand precise process control, high-speed injection and consistent repeatability.

// Three Yushin America HOP Five Series 450 Sprue Picker Robots. These three-axis pneumatic-driven sprue pickers promote efficient and precise operations. The design minimizes vibration in fast take-out cycles for reliable removal of sprues and parts.
